Over hundreds of thousands of years, the human brain has evolved into an organ with unmatched abilities. For centuries, we’ve sought to understand the human brain and unlock its potential. But in the absence of a way to replicate it, scientists have relied on animal models to approximate its function—an approach that has proven deeply inadequate.
Our Name
Our name is a tribute to the 28 crew members of Shackleton’s Endurance expedition and what’s possible when we forge ahead with an unbreakable will to explore and understand the unknown.
Our Platform
Our platform creates living tissue. Brain organoids made from real human cells. Nerve tissues that signal, fire, and learn. Neural networks that don’t just mimic human biology—but are human biology.
We measure cognition. We train neural memory. We see the brain not as a mystery to decode, but as a complex organ whose functions offer profound possibilities.
We’re not here to iterate. We’re here to overhaul. To accelerate the ability to harness the power and capabilities of the human brain. We’re proud of what we’ve built. But we’re even more driven by what’s ahead.
This is our mission.
Vision
Human brains powering the future of scientific exploration.
Mission Statement
Engineering human brains capable of memory, learning, and cognition—at scale.
Our Ethical Commitment
28bio is committed to advancing ethical standards in the development of brain organoid technology and engineered human cognition.
